Welcome 2021, you are a breath of fresh air! I don’t think there has ever been a year that I am more excited to start. Funny, but without the turmoil of 2020, maybe we would not be appreciating the start of 2021 so much.
As I reflect on the past year, I feel a sense of gratitude to all who stepped up and continued to participate. Our real estate industry transformed, and although we had a successful year, it was not without grief as some of our local homes and properties were lost in the LNU Complex Fires. I also understand the deep despair as some got ill, lost loved ones, and lost businesses and jobs. Perhaps the lack of social interactions with friends and family for months on end was the most devastating to our community. It breaks my heart to see the images of people dying in the hospital and not being able to hug their family one last time. It seems so incomprehensible that we as a society continue to be shut down from our normal life. Our “new normal” and “unprecedented times” are terms that define 2020. We did not sign up for this new normal, but we adapted to the changing environment, adjusted our goals, and met the challenge head-on.
Although we may be slow to move out of this current state of uncertainty, I know that 2021 will possess opportunities that are abundant, if we’re willing to look for them. Think about the amount of change our country faced over the last 10 months. Buzz words like Zoom, Doordash, Instacart, TikTok, and of course, Amazon were introduced to us in a frenzy. Our restaurants got creative with our dining options and we learned how to have relationships in a pandemic. Last year’s experience has taught us a lot and for that, I am changed. We all have been changed.
I am excited about 2021 and to begin the leadership journey with the Women’s Council of Realtors®. Our mission is important and our team is committed. I want to thank Gloria V. Rameriz and the entire leadership team for encouraging me during this transition. I embrace the challenge and appreciate the support of our organization. It is an honor to be selected to lead our organization and I am committed to you in the service of our cause. Together, we can do anything.
Cheers to 2021!
