June 2020 President’s Message

I hope this finds everyone well! It’s been a month of regrouping, redoing what we used to do and how we do our business and everyday life. We have been doing more virtual meetings than ever before, watching some of our favorite programs with recordings from individuals’ homes, and watching virtual concerts. The Women’s Council of Realtors California and National conferences were both done in May virtually. I must tell you that even though it’s hard to sit and watch for two days each conference, I found the information and speakers that were presented were exceptional!

At the California Conference, the NAR President, Vince Malta, had some new information about virtual tools for the present market, free or at low cost to members, which can be found at www,NAR.Realtor/Right-Tools-Right-Now. Carrie Little did a great presentation on virtual marketing and many different tools to choose from. Her blog can be found at bit.ly/carriesblog. Various people spoke about what made them say yes to Women’s Council of Realtors, and their candid responses were thought provoking. Per Kathy Dunn, “You can’t be a good leader unless you’re pulling others up behind you.” Per Molly McGee, “To be a good leader is to make the world a better place.” She learned from Women’s Council tools and skills that she uses outside of Women’s Council as well. Brenda Lee Szlachta, WCR National President, spoke on Looking Forward With Enthusiasm. She said we will be known as the Coronavirus Leaders! She asked us all “What will be your legacy?” This spoke to me a lot, maybe because I’m getting older and reflecting on my life, but also because I want to make a difference in my family and in my life, and with my community. I was most impressed with data provided by Leslie Appleton Young, CAR Chief Economist. I had not seen anything like her statists anywhere and it was enlightening.

At the National Conference, Amy Chorew spoke on “Objection Handling”. Markie Lemons Ryhal presented valuable tools and education on mastering videos. Karen Coffey, real estate coach, spoke on “Making Agents Wealthy”, and following her plan can create double digit income in just three months. Anne Marie Ward, PhD, lead the Performance Management Network Class on “Cultivating Confidence with Powerful Presentations”. The content of this class actually surprised me, because I was thinking it would only apply to real estate. She spoke on “people remember how you make them feel.” She provided steps and goals to follow, provided information on how professionals do things. Anne provided extensive information on speaking to an audience, be it one or many people. She provided many different tools to engage your audience. This class was one of the best educational classes that I have had the pleasure of attending.
