Women’s Council of Realtors, Solano – Education/Awards Team Leader
Each year our Solano Network of the Women’s Council of Realtors offers a scholarship to a high school senior. Our annual budget includes $1,000 which is awarded to the most eligible applicant. This year we had two very worthy young men apply and our committee decided to split the scholarship and award one to both for their hard work. Keep this benefit of membership in mind for 2021. If you are a member in good standing and have a high school senior in your family (daughter/son, niece/nephew, cousin, grandchild etc.) be ready to apply. Applications come out in late November of each year.
KEKOA MAKANAAKUA LONSO – Vanden High School – Graduate 2020
Kekoa is the son of Loli Lonso. Loli is a long-time strategic partner with Solano Mortgage. Solano Mortgage is a Platinum Sponsor this year. Kekoa, has been accepted to, and is already attending Solano Community College. He has taken a mechanic 2 course this year and has also been accepted to UTI – Universal Technical Institute, Sacramento. Classes are scheduled to begin in August.
Kekoa is a hard-working exemplary student. He is only seventeen and has had a job with Brenden Theatres in Vacaville for almost two years. We received a letter of recommendation from his employer that stressed how he is reliable, able to “think on his feet,” adapt, he has trained others and communicates well. He has been and will continue to be an asset to them. Say “hi” to Kekoa when you go to the movies. It is not easy to hold a down a job while attending school, Kekoa has done it all and passed with flying colors. We are proud to be able to give our scholarship this year to Kekoa.
JORDAN ALAN PORQUEZ FONTAINE – Armijo High School – Graduate 2020
Jordan is the nephew of our very own Michele Pagsolingan Perez, Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Gold in Fairfield. Some of you may already know Jordan from the Northern Solano Association of Realtors. Jordan is currently working as a social media and digital marketing manager. He was instrumental in creating the new NSCAR website and his creative abilities are well known, as he is primarily responsible for event fliers and social marketing. He has been actively working on the Newsletter for NSCAR and I may need his help. Hilary is his proud mom and we got to meet the whole family. They are all so proud of Jordan receiving the award.
